Mechanical vernier caliper DINGQI with a vernier scale, measures outside and inside dimensions and depth, without a battery that dies halfway through the job. A classic that every metalworker, turner and model maker keeps in a drawer, in a protective case.
Questions and answers
Mechanical or digital caliper, which to choose?
A mechanical one has no battery and is practically everlasting; a digital one is faster to read. For a workshop and occasional measurements, the mechanical one is a more reliable choice.
What does a caliper measure?
Outside diameter (e.g. of a screw), inside diameter (e.g. of a pipe) and the depth of an opening, three measurements in one tool.
How is the vernier read?
The main scale gives millimetres, and the vernier mark that lines up with the main scale gives the hundredth, with a little practice the reading is instant.
